The University of Cincinnati moved to the Uniprint system at the beginning of 2003 in an effort to conserve paper and save trees. At the time it was an estimated 1,130 trees would be saved a year by cutting printing by 40%. To help curb unnecessary printing a charge of $0.07 would be charged for each black and white print. At the beginning of each quarter all registered students would be given 100 free black and white prints, with some home colleges offering their students additional printing subsides. With this system in place the University has been able to surpass original estimates and cut printing on average by 66%.

To accommodate the influx of laptop users, Autumn Quarter 2005 saw the introduction of UCit’s Mobile Printing. With this program installed a member of the University of Cincinnati’s community can print from their personal computer to selected printers around campus.
